THANK YOU LADIES FOR SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY
Members from the Anglican Church Mother's Union consistently donate essential items to our Community Centre. This generous and caring group understands that at times individuals in our community, faced with a crisis, benefit from a care-pack that includes essential items such as tooth paste, soap, shampoo, razor blades and flannels. June, photographed with staff member Carolyn, collects all the items and makes up individual essential packs. During her last visit she was presented with an appreciation certificate acknowledging the group's ongoing donations.

Hinchinbrook Shire residents have come forward with gifts and donations for those in our community who are struggling during the festive season. Financial distress, relationship breakdowns, health issues and social isolation impact on individuals and families throughout the year, but it is at Christmas time that these issues can become unbearable. Advertisements bombard us with messages about spending, gift giving, and celebrating, however this can add pressure to an already difficult situation. Living in a community that shows compassion and understanding has a positive impact on those in need and provides a sense of support. We thank each and every person for their generosity and in particular we mention:
Today, Wednesday 2nd of December Year six students from St Peter’s Catholic School came to the Hinchinbrook Community Support Centre loaded with gifts for those in need in our community. All students, from all grades, have been fundraising and working hard to raise money to purchase toys as part of the HCSC Christmas appeal.
Principal Ms Tracy Nuttall proudly accompanied senior student representatives Joshua, Michael, Nyeasha and Orli-Jade. The gifts will be distributed to families in the lead up to Christmas. Well done students for all your hard work and commitment ! ![]() “Hearts and Candles” will be warm and glowing on McIlwraith Street on Wednesday December 9th as the Hinchinbrook Community Support Centre holds its second annual Light Up A Life Ceremony. For a donation of any amount a special card can be purchased to be hung on a Remembrance Tree on which you can write your own personalised message or remembrance for a loved one. All proceeds will be donated to Ingham Palliative Care. Every dollar counts. Tea and Coffee will be provided at the service which honours those passed ensuring they are not forgotten at a time of the year when they are dearly missed by their families and friends. In addition, whilst Christmas celebrations begin, this is an opportunity for us to come together, and those remembering may find solace and feel less isolation meeting others walking a similar journey to their own. The event is held from 6.30pm for a 7pm start, everyone is warmly invited to attend. |
